End-of-Year Product Reviews

We asked for your help a couple of months ago, and being the end of the year I would like to do it again. We will reward your forthcoming by randomly choosing some people who take the time to leave reviews and emailing you for your address so we can send you out a thank you care package (copies of Weirdo Vol. 1, stickers, etc!). We put a lot of stock in customer reviews. Our review system on our website lets you put in Pros, Cons & Comments when you leave a review. We read each and every one, and they help us figure out if there are any issues or products that need improved, and they help out anyone else who is thinking about buying a product but wants the low-down from their peers.

We are looking for customers to click on the 'Review' tab that is on every single product on our site, and then click on 'Add Your Review' and let us know what you think. You don't have to have an account or anything, just your name, review, and email address (which is not shared or published!). Thanks for your help!

Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year from Lowbrow Customs

Merry Christmas! 2010 was a good year for Lowbrow, and we hope 2011 will be even better. Thanks for your continued support, it is because of you that we are doing what we love and having fun and that is what it is all about.

We are in the middle of working on the new shop and should be in by late January, and we should be throwing a big open house party this Spring, so stay tuned. In addition to the new digs, we will be at several shows that are new to Lowbrow including Daytona at the Limp Nickie Lot and Sturgis at the Broken Spoke. We will also be at the V-Twin Expo (and the Bro-Down!), El Diablo Run 2011 (yes!), Mid-Ohio Vintage M/C Days, Bonneville Speed Week, and I am sure several more shows and runs.

Here is to you and your family, hope you have a great holiday season and new year.

New Digs!

If you are on our newsletter email list you may have seen the sneak peek of our new building, a huge warehouse in Medina Ohio. I've been working some long days getting our new warehouse ready, cleaning, fixing things changing out 260 8 foot florescent bulbs and more. Yeah, you could barely see out of those windows until last night! I am pretty excited about the new office, it's a second story room big enough for a couple desks and a conference table. After 2 years working at a small computer desk this will be a huge change! We will post some more pictures over the next month as we paint everything and get the whole stock room setup as well as the new motorcycle bay!

Shop Spotlight: the Gasbox - Lakewood, Ohio

the Gasbox is a custom motorcycle shop in Lakewood, Ohio run by Jesse Bassett. His nondescript shop on Madison Ave. doesn't even have a proper sign, but it is always jam packed with cool bikes every time I visit. Jesse does custom fabrication, from welding up mounts and tabs to custom gas tanks, hardtails and frames (as well as these fenders we carry). He also builds motors (including my Pan motor in progress right now) and can handle about anything you need. Hit him up if you need some quality work done, you can check out the Gasbox blog and contact him there.

Customer Bike Spotlight: Another great Trump from Down Under!

Peter sent us this write up on his bike and some pictures and we wanted to share this. We love seeing what you guys are building! Keep em coming!
Please find attached some photos of my recently completed 1964 6T Triumph 650cc Bobber. Fitted with twin carby head. Many new part were purchased from Lowbrow Customs, including a Joe Hunt Magneto, a 4” stretched 2” lowered David Bird Hard tail, 1 of your oil tanks, a rear mud guard, a Groovy handle bars, not shown in the photos, number plate holder and reproduction ford tail light, Chain, and numerous small bits and pieces. I purchased this Trumpy as a basket case locally and rebuilt the engine and transmission with the help of an Old Triumph Enthusiast named Gus. Gus is in his Seventies, he has a wealth of Triumph knowledge as well as all the right tools to do the job properly. We fitted the bike with a 220 watt updated charging system as well as an oil filter kit, and a pair of more modern carbies. A home made battery box is also fitted. I had the wheels re-chromed and re-spoked, also the frame powder coated, a new speedo and rev counter are also fitted. At the moment still waiting for the Oil pressure gauge. I am 61 years young and own a Honda VTX 1300. I also have a restored 76 Bonneville and an almost completely restored 1970 Bonny. I just recently married a 45 year old biker bird, who owns a Suzuki 1400 Intruder. But we won’t hold that against her. In our spare time we like to travel on the bikes to near by cities. The closest big city is 300miles away. We are both members of the Ulysses Club. The Ulysses club is a club for over 40’s who like to ride motorcycles. The next major ride is to the Ulysses annual general meeting which is to be held in Newcastle, NSW. An 800 mile ride for us, about 12 hrs riding spread over a couple of days. For many years I have envied those who own a Bonny. Now I have the best of both worlds, thanks to team at Lowbrow Customs and the Magazines Dice and Greasy Kulture. All the best for your future land speed attempts I will be watching with interest. Thank you Lowbrow for your support. Regards Peter Rawlins, Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia

Ride-Wrench-Repeat

My 70 Daytona (Charlene) has been the bane of my existence for the last 2 years... I either push it to hard or it just straight up hates me. Either way its been a love hate relationship for years, and Im back to rebuild status as of today. I named the bike, Charlene after a girl I dated in college that wore a purple sweater and had sweaty palms...I now think it was a poor choice of names, seeing how this bike seems to have a hex of bad JuJu on it.... Im thinkin Christine would have been more suitable.

Triumph Drag Bike Motor In Progress

I got some work done on the old pre unit Triumph drag bike this evening. I pulled it all apart and have the frame ready to sandblast. Got the motor on the bench and pulled the timing cover and found this, very cool drilled timing gears and BTH magneto advance. This got me excited so I pulled the top end off as well. High compression pistons, +.100, the rest of the bottom end will come apart this weekend. Looks like perhaps Harmons Collins cams, we shall see for sure when I split the cases.

Holiday Shipping Info for Last Minute Shoppers

Christmas is fast approaching, Hanukkah is about to kick off, and Kwanzaa-Bot is getting ready to make his yearly rounds. If you are reading this in preparation to snag the killer gift that will make that special person in your life delighted, the following will help to ensure your gift arrives in time.

We ship daily and try our best to get your order out same day as long as it is ordered by mid-afternoon. If you are in the U.S. then Priority Mail may be the way to go, which offers delivery in 2 - 3 days in the continental U.S. We are in Ohio, so you west-coast people keep in mind that UPS Ground is a 5 day ship to you, so Priority Mail (3 days to west coast), or the slightly higher-priced (though guaranteed delivery date) options of UPS 3 Day Select or UPS 2nd Day Air will help make your holiday dreams a reality.

For international customers, it is likely too late to get your order in time for the holidays. USPS Priority Mail, however, is the fastest way to go, followed a couple weeks later by USPS First Class International. This time of year customs offices around the world get clogged up and the problem is typically that orders sit in customs for extended periods of time and there is absolutely nothing we can do about it!

If you totally dropped the ball and it is too late, you can always pick up a Lowbrow Customs Gift Certificate in any amount you want. One size fits all!

Holiday cheers from all of us here at Lowbrow!

Cincinnati Area- This Sat!

I came across this flier on Chop Cult for a show this Saturday, I know a couple of these bands, and in that area the Southgate House is the coolest venue to see a show at! Check it out if you're in the area!

Customer Bike Spotlight: Dirt Tracker Inspired Harley Davidson Sportster

This dirt track-inspired Sporty comes from Garrett Brittenham:

"It’s a ’95 1200H. Had the goofy longhorn bars, saddlebags, fringe etc. when I got it. It has 18” rear wheel and 19” front, Sun rims, stainless spokes, Dunlop K180 tires. Up front is a set of Buell M2 forks that I shaved and polished. M2 caliper and rotor, on a one-off rotor carrier.

Out back, hacked off the fender struts, built aluminum brackets to mount the XR seat, which is from Grand Prix Glassworks in Wyoming. I had a fiberglass XR tank on there for awhile, but the ethanol took it’s toll on it and it melted. Now it has a ‘70s Superglide tank. I miss the XR tank, but it’s nice having fewer fuel stops.

I chopped the cam and sprocket covers, and installed Andrews N2 cams. Pretty much the only motor mod unless you count pipes and A/C. Rearsets are from Chainsikle, but I replaced the shift side with a homemade bracket to adapt a Buell XB shifting mechanism. Works a lot better.

Lots of paint and parts help from the Quad Cam Bastards."

"Juan" Hondamatic Chopper

Jon Hughes killer CB750A chopper build:

"Juan is my first build. It started as a Craig's List 1976 CB750A Hondamatic. Got the frame, carburetors and, speedo from Ken @ Cycle X. Rims are Excels rims off of ebay, 5.5x16 rear, 2.5x19 front, laced up with some Buchanan's spokes to the original hubs that I buffed up on a Harbor Freight $39 buffer. The rims went together easier than I thought they would. Running a Metzler 180/70x16 out back and a Bridgestone 90/90x19 up front. The seat is an Anvil Customs that I found on ebay sitting on springs and fittings from Lowbrow Customs. Pipes are Vance and Hines CB900 pro-pipes. Attitude Painting in Pinellas Park did the tank and fender while Bothers Powder Coating of New Port Richey did the frame and trees. Motor is still stock with just a spray can overhaul and the ignition switch stuck through the side cover. Hell the thing started on the first crank after sitting for a year. It took a year to put together in my garage. Its not quite a Bolt-on-Betty, making all the parts play nice together meant a lot of assembling, disassembly and grinding, oh and a lot of cussing and sweating. The hardest part was lining up the motor and rear tire then squeezing in the chain between the frame and back tire. Rode it as a rat far a week or so before blowing it apart for powder and paint. The two speed automatic is great fun to ride."

Lowbrow Flask?

Adam sent this picture in saying the hat fit great and the stickers always find their way to the right place. I replied I am wearing the same hat, I wish I had the flask though....I just spent the last hour shoveling snow and could use a nip!

Husted Vintage Cycles Triumph Chopper

Here is a killer Triumph built by a friend of Lowbrow's, Zac of Husted Vintage Cycles up in the great white North:

1969 Triumph 750CC 5 Speed > Owned by Larry Lakhan, President of the Bottom Feeders C.C., built by Zachary Husted, Owner of Husted Vintage Cycles.

Zac started with the motor and half a frame. From there he added a sporty tank, chrome springer, 21" front wheel, 16" rear wheel to start getting the style defined. The Joe Hunt magneto, David Bird hardtail, brass ribbed fender and 7/8" Z-bars from Lowbrow gives this bike the complete look. This thing is going to be terrorizing Toronto very soon.

Allow Myself to...Introduce Myself

Dynamite Duo, Tyler and Kyle thought it might go over well to add another character to the Lowbrow Blog-O-Rama... I however tried relentlessly to convince them it was a horrible business decision. But seeing how variety is the spice of life....here I am.
Im hoping to add to the general well being of the blog, without detracting with my lengthy antidotes and chamomile effect stories. To my accredit...Im a part time writer, a skill-less artist and a boogery welder...Thanks for havin me.
